Accor has announced the launch of its fifth hotel in Central Otago and first in Wanaka with the region enjoying its best start to the ski season this century.

Accor’s Grand Mercure collection of hotels  has been joined by The Oakridge Pool & Spa Resort Lake Wanaka, a boutique-style hotel, renowned for its thermal rock pools and an ideal base for enjoying the alpine town’s top-class dining, wineries, arts, trekking and skiing at the Cardrona & Treble Cone ski resorts.

In celebration, the hotel is offering a special Romantic Hideaway package that includes one night’s accommodation in a resort room, a bottle of bubbly on arrival, a romantic dinner for two at The Hub Restaurant, a full cooked breakfast on the Terrace Sundeck and late check-out for just NZ$175 per person, with the offer valid until 31 March 2007, subject to availability. The resort also offers packages that include pamper treatments or skiing inclusions.

The Oakridge Pool & Spa Resort Lake Wanak joins four other Accor hotels – including three times ‘Best Hotel in New Zealand’ award-winner Grand Mercure St Moritz – in the Central Otago region, providing the widest range of accommodation options for visitors to New Zealand’s Southern Alps region.

The resort, set on 1.5 hectares in a beautiful mountain setting, currently offers 77 suites and rooms in a variety of accommodation styles from self-contained studios to lodge rooms and two-bedroom apartments, and the owners are looking to add more rooms to meet current and future demand.  Built and furnished to a high standard, all apartments boast private terraces, under-floor heating, separate lounge/dining areas, modern kitchens with granite benchtops and offer individual balconies or patios.

A special feature of the Oakridge Resort Grand Mercure is its heated rock pool and health spa complex, with the property also including seven open air hot pools and two heated swimming pools, beautifully landscaped with local rocks and alpine tussock and surrounded by the spectacular mountain scenery.  There are also four separate treatment rooms for massages, facials and a host of well-being therapies.

Situated just two minutes’ drive from the centre of Wanaka the Grand Mercure is surrounded by the majestic Southern Alps which has become increasingly popular with international travellers.

For bookings phone 1300 65 65 65 or call the resort directly on +64 3 443 7707. Visit www.accorhotels.co.nz
