Acquisitions ‘imminent’ for von Essen Hotels
A significant level of expansion for von Essen Hotels has been signalled by chairman Andrew Davis.
The 25-strong private group is poised to conclude deals for a further two properties in the North of England within days. Up to nine other acquisitions are in the pipeline by the end of June, according to Davis.
Saying that two major acquisitions were “imminent”, he revealed the possibility of acquiring a group, understood to comprise of 13 hotels, including properties in France and Italy.
Davis also suggested the potential for a further acquisition of city-based hotels in the UK to build von Essen’s Metropolitan Collection which makes its debut next year with 7O-room luxury hotel at Battersea Heliport in London (see previous TravelMole story).
The company is also due to confirm the recruitment of a chief operating officer and finance director, who Davis described as “very senior” executives in the hotel industry.
The company is also investing in its existing portfolio with a £5 million spa opening in April at The Elms in Worcestershire, one of von Essen’s five Family Set of luxury hotels.
And £6 million has been spent refurbishing properties Lower Slaughter Manor and Washbourne, both in Gloucestershire.
