Adult-only Adonia ready to set sail

Sunday, 04 May, 2011 0

P&O Cruises has just taken delivery of its latest ship, Adonia, which will sail adult-only cruises.

Formerly Royal Princess before its makeover, the ship will carry just 710 passengers and its style of cruising will be old school, with an emphasis on formal nights and silver service dining.

It will kick off its first season from Southampton later this month when it sets off on a 16-night western Med cruise after a naming ceremony conducted by Dame Shirley Bassey on May 21. Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville will also have a role in the ceremony.

P&O Cruises managing director Carol Marlow said: “Adonia will be the jewel in the P&O Cruises crown and will celebrate all those things our regular passengers love about cruising with us – a classic dance floor, Crow’s Nest observation lounge, formal nights, classical music recitals, guest speakers, silver service dining and a dedicated card room.”
