Advanced “Hello Kitty” Jet Purrs Through Skies

Wednesday, 23 Jul, 2007 0

Australian and New Zealand passengers travelling with EVA Air between Taipei and Osaka and Taipei and Hong Kong since early July have been making the journey on advanced Boeing 777-300ER aircraft emblazoned with cartoon characters from the fictional pop culture series of Hello Kitty, her family and friends.

The Taiwan-based carrier commenced its 777-300ER Hong Kong service on July 2 and upgraded its Osaka service with the state-of-the-art aircraft on July 1.

“Hello Kitty” jets deployed on both sectors have highly visible cartoon logos on the fuselage of the aircraft.  Inside the wide body cabin crew uniforms and passenger meals also have links with the globally known characters from Japan.

The carrier which recently took delivery of its 6th Boeing 777-300ER has configured the jet to carry 316 passengers in three upgraded cabins with 42 seats in Premium Laurel Class, 63 in Elite and 211 in economy.

Every passenger has access to the personal interactive Star Gallery audio and video on demand (AVOD) entertainment system with movies, features, music, video games and shopping options.

As well, the aircraft is equipped with steam ovens, intelligent memory foam seating, touch-free infrared taps and an extra wide 60 in. toilet for passengers with special needs such as parents travelling with young children.

Nine more Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be progressively added to the EVA Air fleet which also includes 11 Airbus A330s.

The carrier operates three weekly A330 flights between Brisbane and Taipei and a twice weekly Airbus service linking Auckland and the Taiwanese capital.
