A ‘one-stop shop’ airline consultancy has been set up to help start up carriers and assist travel companies obtain ATOLs.
Constellation Aviation Consulting Limited has been established by five aviation professionals whose experience covers carrier ranging from American Airlines, British Airways, Silverjet and Air Foyle.
The London-based company has been established at a time when regulatory hurdles are described as being “exceptionally challenging”.
The offering includes tailored start-up support packages for new entrant operators.
The partners have backgrounds in airline operations, airline start-ups, licensing and management, finance, law and aviation IT.
They can provide support and advise on: economic modelling, business and regulatory strategy; appraisal of travel distribution and operational methods.
Other expertise includes bilateral, open skies and route licensing issues through liaison with the Department for Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority.
Constellation can also lend support on route development, market potential and traffic forecasts; the procurement of AOC and related manual work, plus flight crew selection and training. Expertise can also be extended to engineering sourcing and aircraft procurement.
The group can also offer assistance with travel trade licensing, including the procurement of an ATOL in the UK.
Founder and director Paul Moore, a former passenger services director at Air Foyle, said: “Constellation is an aviation adviser created for today’s environment which addresses two trends prevalent in the industry today.
“Over the past 12 months, many airlines have been forced to let talented staff go owing to the global economic crisis which has hurt aviation especially hard. Redundancies and lay-offs have resulted in a dip in in-house experience and expertise.
“Couple that with the increasing trend in the industry to outsource, a flexible and experienced aviation consultancy willing to work on short, medium term or long term projects and which can offer a menu of services to pick and choose from is going to be an attractive proposition today.”
The other team members are solicitor Glenvil Smith; former American Airlines’ head of global IT Carter Stewart; chartered accountant Robert Falkner, who was responsible for establishing Galileo at BA; and Captain Tom Pearce-Carr, who has flown for BA, Air Foyle and EasyJet.
