Affordable appoints Lord to its Board
Affordable Car Hire has appointed Lord Peter Snape to its Board of directors.
Affectionately known as the ‘Lord of Travel’, Lord Snape has close links with the ITT and worked in the rail industry before holding a number of transport and aviation posts in the Labour movement.
He was MP for West Bromwich East for 27 years before he stood down in 2001.
He has also served as chairman of Travel West Midlands, part of the National Express Group, and is currently the chairman of his hometown football club Stockport County.
As a non executive director of Affordable Car Hire, Lord Snape will work alongside the company’s chief executive officer Angela Day in driving the business’s growth strategy.
Day said: "We are delighted to have appointed Lord Snape to the board as he brings with him tremendous commercial acumen and experience from his time in both industry and politics. He is passionate about the travel sector and I’m sure his in-put will be invaluable as we look to develop our car hire business by growing our agency revenues and through overseas expansion.
Lord Snape said: "Affordable Car Hire is a young, ambitious business which has enjoyed tremendous growth since it was formed in 2004 and I’m really looking forward to working with Angela and my other board colleagues in spearheading the next stage of the company’s development."
