Agent call centres closed due to bad weather
Travel 2 has become the latest travel company forced to close its call centres due to the extreme weather impacting Scotland.
It has decided to close its Glasgow call centre for the second day following weather warnings telling people not to venture out.
"The wellbeing and safety of our staff is paramount; we will continue to monitor the situation with the aim to return to normal service as soon as it is safe to do so," it said.
"We apologise to agents for the inconvenience caused by the closure. We have activated our well-rehearsed crisis plans to handle emergency and urgent calls on 0800 0224 182.
"The website continues to be fully operational."
Thomas Cook yesterday confirmed the closure of its customer contact centre in Falkirk, many shops in Scotland and 25 stores in other parts of the UK.
It said customers needing help from its contact centre can still chat to one of its travel advisors using its online chat service.
Barrhead Travel closed its Glasgow-based call centres, its head office and most of its stores across the UK.
Some stores have been able to re-open today and the agency chain said others may open as the day progresses.
Branches open today are Glasgow, Dunfermline, The Gyle, Belfast, Livingston, East Kilbride, Leicester, Irvine, Dumfries, Silverburn, and Newton Mearns.
It urged any customers affected by travel disruption to call its dedicated support team by emaling their booking reference, lead passenger name and contact telephone number to [email protected].
