Agents first to sail on new Costa ship

Travel agents will be the first passengers onboard troubled Costa Cruises new flagship, the Fascinosa, which sets sail on Sunday on a two-leg mini-cruise.

Agents from the UK will join the second leg of the cruise, from Trieste to Venice via Dubrovnik and Split.

They will take part in the 19th Champions of the Sea event, which will be held onboard the ship from May 6 to 11. They will be given a behind-the-scenes tour of the ship, which will include a demonstration of the ship’s safety measures.

Costa Fascinosa is the newest ship in the Costa fleet and the first to be added since the sinking of the Costa Concordia in January.

After ‘Champions of the Sea’, Costa Fascinosa will depart from Venice on her 11-day inaugural voyage to Greece, Israel, Turkey and Croatia, with calls to Bari, Corfu, Haifa (Israel), Smyrna (Turkey) and Dubrovnik.

From May 21 to November 30, Costa Fascinosa will offer one-week cruises departing from Venice on Mondays and from Bari on Tuesdays to Olympia, Santorini and Rhodes and Dubrovnik.
