Agents given option to select seats on Lufthansa flights

Tuesday, 14 Jan, 2014 0

German flag carrier Lufthansa and its subsidiary Austrian Airlines are to sell advance seat reservations as an ancillary product via Amadeus Airline Ancillary Services.

Travel agents using Amadeus in 63 markets worldwide will be able to book advance seat reservations in economy for travellers flying on domestic and European routes.

Passengers will also be able to book extra leg room seats on continental and intercontinental routes.

Agents using Amadeus will be charged a ‘small’ additional fee for reserving the traveller’s preferred seat. The airline said fees will vary depending on whether they select a standard or exit row seat with additional legroom.

Passengers without advanced seat reservations will be able to choose their seat free of charge only at check-in.

Lufthansa and Austrian will also adopt Amadeus Airline Ancillary Services to distribute ancillary products through their website in the first half of this year.
