Agents, public get help to travel securely
CANBERRA – The Australian Department of Infrastructure has launched TravelSECURE, a new web site designed to help domestic and international travellers learn more about the security measures in place at Australian airports and the actions they need to take to comply with these measures.
The new web site explains aviation security regulations in simple terms and includes videos, graphics, and other material.
It will help travellers prepare for their trip and clear the security checks at Australian airports as efficiently as possible.
For greater accessibility, key pages have also been translated into Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Spanish.
TravelSECURE provides updated and user-friendly information about prohibited items such as liquids, aerosols and gels (international flights) as well as guidance on passenger and baggage screening.
The site also provides advice for travelling with children, laptops, medicines and sports equipment.
TravelSECURE has a section where travel agents can obtain information and ready-to-use text for e-ticket itineraries and boarding passes, frequently asked questions and access to fact sheets and videos from the ‘information for travellers’ section of the site.
The new site complements existing resources such as the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Smartraveller website.
TravelSECURE builds on the recommendations of the recent review of aviation security screening to put measures in place to ensure the safety and security of Australian and international passengers travelling through Australian airports.
This new site is located at: http://travelsecure.infrastructure.gov.au/
