Air Busan fire leads to new power bank luggage rules

South Korea airline Air Busan will ban power banks in cabin luggage placed in overhead bins after one of its aircraft caught fire last week.
An investigation into the fire has started and although no cause has been determined yet, the airline has announced it will ban the batteries in bags.
Carry-on bags will be checked at boarding gates on some routes initially as a trial, and then expanded to all routes.
Power banks are not banned on flights but should be kept with passengers so that any overheating or fire can be dealt with quickly.
Air Busan will place additional fire containment equipment on board each plane.
The fire engulfed the plane last week before taking off for Hong Kong.
All passengers were safely evacuated.
Smoke was first detected by a flight attendant in an overhead luggage bin.
