Air India closes down booking offices
National carrier Air India is continuing cost cutting measures by closing down 23 booking offices nationwide.
That leaves 54 additional offices still open, but the carrier said it will also shutter some overseas booking offices.
Locations shut down include Dehradun, Amritsar, Trichur, Udaipur, Mysore, Leh, Kanpur, Agra, Darjeeling, Surat and Allahabad.
Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma said there is a need to stem the flow of losses at the state run airline and these locations were getting fewer and fewer walk-in customers.
He said that the majority of business comes via agents of direct online bookings.
Air India offices in Tehran and Cairo are also slated to close down in the near future.
