Air India launching TaxiBots at two airports
Air India is going high-tech at two airports with the launch of TaxiBot operations.
Coming to Delhi and Bengaluru airports, the semi-robotic TaxiBot can guide aircraft from the gate to the runway without using aircraft fuel.
TaxiBots could save nearly 15,000 tons in fuel consumption over three years, AI says.
It is compatible with Airbus A320 aircraft.
“Air India is constantly looking for ways to improve sustainability and manage our carbon footprint,” said CEO, Campbell Wilson.
“TaxiBot is one more example of our commitment to reduce emissions and fuel consumption.”
Air India hopes to extend its use to other airports and other airlines in the group.
Air India has partnered with KSU Aviation for Taxibot operations.
