Air rage insurance on offer
An insurance company is reportedly offering a new type of cover – against being caught up in an air rage incident. According to the Daily Telegraph, the American company Chubb is providing cover of £10,000, and will reportedly reimburse people “who have to pay out for medical or psychiatric services as a result of air rage, and compensate those who have to take time off work”. Annual cover will cost £2,000. The company reportedly decided to add the cover after commissioning a report on the phenomenon. The Telegraph states that the report advises passengers confronted with air rage to “ask the unruly passenger’s name and stand at a 45-degree angle to him or her – on their non-dominant side”. It also warns of the dangers of “mirroring” the mood of the angry passenger, and that smiling is not a good idea because it could be construed as “ridicule”.
