AirAsia adds more flights from new Lombok hub
Just a couple of weeks after launching landmark flights to Perth, Australia, AirAsia has injected further optimism in Lombok’s still recovering tourism industry.
It is doubling down on domestic traffic with two new routes set to take flight in August.
It will start flying to Jakarta direct from Lombok, adding much needed competition on the route which has seen fares spike in recent months.
It will also start flying three times a week to Yogyakarta’s Kulon Progo Airport and the short hop over the Lombok Strait to Bali once a day.
"We have since long sought to expand our domestic route network, so with AirAsia’s newest hub in Lombok inaugurated in early May and the addition of our 25th Airbus A320 fleet, we are currently ready to connect more of the country’s best destinations to support tourism," said AirAsia Indonesia chief Dendy Kurniawan.
The carrier also announced a new Bali – Labuan Bajo service connecting tourists with the unique land and marine environments of the Komodo National Park, home to the eponymous dragon.
To mark the domestic expansion AirAsia is offering limited time promo fares bookable until June 30, 2019, and starting from IDR635,000 on the Lombok-Jakarta route and from IDR203,000 for Lombok to Bali.
