AirAsia Delhi-bound travellers given face masks
AirAsia India is adding an extra perk for all flyers heading to Delhi.
They will be given pollution masks for protection in the smog-filled metropolis.
Pollution masks will be handed out to passengers on flights to Delhi from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata.
The airline entered into a partnership with health tech start-up Mfine which is providing the masks.
AirAsia wants to offer ‘adequate support to avoid health related issues due to the air pollution in the city’ it said.
The initiative will last until at least November 29.
"The overall Delhi air quality index in the city currently is 494. According to the monitoring agency SAFAR this index measures the levels of airborne PM 2.5 – particles that can reach deep into the lungs," the airline added.
Air pollution in the National Capital Region is expected to deteriorate further in the coming days as temperatures fall, which can sometimes exacerbate exposure to air pollutants.
