AirAsia India will start international flights next year

Thursday, 06 Mar, 2017 0
AirAsia India plans to kick start expansion and start international services from next year.

No routes have been disclosed yet but the carrier will likely focus on ASEAN destinations due to the link up with other AirAsia affiliates.

It will nearly double its fleet size to 14 later this year and will take delivery of a further six planes in early 2018.

Under current aviation rules, all India-based carriers must have a minimum of 20 aircraft before they can apply to fly international routes.

AirAsia India CEO Amar Abrol said a special project team will be established tasked with getting the airline ready for international flights by late 2018.
