AirAsia X launches $99 Sydney-KL fares

AirAsia X has wasted no time in marketing its new services between Kuala Lumpur and Sydney, starting April 1.

It launched an online one-day sale today, exclusively with Expedia.com.au, offering $99 one-way fares, including taxes from Sydney to KL.

A return fare is priced at $299 including taxes.

Another four-day sale from January 19-22 will offer travellers flights to KL for $149 including taxes and $100 return.

Amee Evans, marketing and communications manager of Expedia.com.au, said the one day flash sale would provide Aussie travellers with the opportunity to fly to Asia for under $300 return between April 1 and October 27.

AirAsia X last week announced that it would abandon its long-haul flights to London and Paris at the end of March, along with those to Mumbai and Delhi.

Malaysia Airlines had thwarted AirAsia X in its bid to launch Sydney services but analysts believe that MAS withdrew its objections once AirAsia X stopped competing on routes to Europe and India.
