Airbnb rolls out more accessibility search filters
Airbnb has added more search filters for travelers with disabilities.
It expands on a single existing search option which allows users to filter results for wheelchair accessible homes only.
It has significantly added to that now with 21 different search filters such as step-free access, fixed grab bars, disabled parking spots and roll-in showers.
The new search functionality is live on the Airbnb app.
With these new filters, we are making it easier for everyone to share their adapted homes with travelers with disabilities around the world. Our mission is to enable anyone to belong anywhere, regardless of disability, Srin Madipalli, Airbnb’s accessibility product and program manager wrote in a blog post.
Airbnb begin working with the California Council of the Blind, California Foundation for Independent Living Centers and National Council on Independent Living last year to develop the accessibility filters, Madipalli said.
"Airbnb will be working closely with its community of hosts and guests to ensure the new filters offer information which is as useful and accurate as possible, with the aim to improve and expand the filters to ensure they support as many travelers as possible."
Madipalli said Airbnb is seeking customer feedback and welcomes any suggestions to improve or expand the search filters.
