Airline shares gain again
Airlines has a very positive session yesterday as London’s equity markets pushed ahead.
The FTSE 100 index added 17.8 points to end the day at 4893, while the broader-based FTSE 250 did even better, gaining 63.8 points to close at 6807.
British Airways gained 7.5p to close at 254p prior to today’s annual fnancial results, easyJet put on 3.75p to 239p, and Ryanair added 9.5p for a closing price of 399.5p.
Lastminute.com gained another 12.5p after yesterday’s confirmation of a takeover by Sabre Holdings, with lastminute’s boss Brent Hoberman claiming in the Daily Mail that shareholders have “done quite well” out of the deal. Except those who bought at the year-high price of 193.75p, of course – or those who paid 215p when the stock was floated in the first place …
