Airline shares lead recovery
Travel and tourism shares staged a minor recovery yesterday after the battering taken by London’s equity markets on Monday.
The FTSE 100 yesterday gained 59.5 points to close at 4454.7, while the FTSE 250 added 58.3 points to end the day at 6001.2.
Among the best performances of the day were: Ryanair, which added 10p to close at 305p; British Airways, up 9.5p to 263.5p; and BAA, up 14.5p to close at 527p.
