Airlines ban game trophies after Cecil killing
Two US airlines have imposed a ban on big-game trophies after the illegal killing of Cecil the lion by a tourist in Zimbabwe.
Delta and American Airlines have announced they will no longer carry lion, rhinoceros, leopard, elephant or buffalo remains as cargo, according to the BBC.
However, they did not give official reasons for the decision.
Delta, which flies to a number of cities in Africa, was subjected to an online petition calling for a ban on big-game trophies, such as Cecil who was shot illegally in July by American dentist Walter Palmer in the Hwange National Park, where the lion was a major tourist attraction.
