Aldo Zilli sets sail with Thomson Cruises
Aldo Zilli has become the latest celebrity chef to join a cruise line.
He is to open a Zilli’s restaurant on board the ship Thomson Celebration this autumn.
This is the latest development in a partnership with Thomson following his involvement in in-flight meals on Thomsonfly aircraft.
Zilli’s will open on October 19, before the ship sails from Majorca to the Red Sea to begin the winter season.
Based on Italian-inspired ingredients, the existing restaurant will be revamped to reflect his style and the onboard chefs will be trained to cook the “Zilli way”.
He follows celebrity chefs such as James Martin (Ocean Village) and Gary Rhodes and Marco Pierre White (P&O Cruises) in becoming involved in on board dining.
Had of Thomson Cruises David Selby said: “Aldo will bring his own style and a sense of fun to the dining experience and Zilli’s is bound to go down well with our guests.”
Zilli said: “I was amazed at the standard of the dining on board Thomson Celebration when I visited in June – particularly given the numbers of people they cater for.
“I can only work with quality, fresh ingredients and highly professional chefs and I needed to be sure the ship could deliver on both counts. I needn’t have worried. I am totally confident that Zilli’s on Thomson Celebration will deliver a dining experience on a par with my other restaurants.”
