Alitrip signs with Travelport
The travel unit of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has signed a content and data partnership agreement with Travelport.
The partnership lets Alitrip work with Travelport travel agencies and provides access to Travelport’s pricing and availability data, including its ePricing and Search Control Console.
Travelport-enabled agents worldwide will also have access to travel inventory on the Alitrip online platform.
"We are delighted to have Alitrip as our newest online partner. Travelport has led the development of technologies that support online travel platforms such as Alitrip. We are excited to work with the most successful name in e-commerce and help bring that same success to online travel commerce," said Mark Meehan, Travelport’s managing director for Asia Pacific.
Alitrip, formerly known as Taobao Travel, was launched in late 2014 and hosts inventory from airlines, hotels and package tour providers.
"With this partnership we can now have a more efficient way to engage the wider agency community and bring them onto the Alitrip platform," said Zheng Zhou, general manager of Alitrip’s transportation business.
"This will provide our users with the best fare options."
