‘All in one’ car rental rates via Galileo

Friday, 20 Jun, 2005 0

Total car rental charges including all taxes and surcharges are to be made available to agents through Galileo.

The GDS has enhanced its CarMaster booking functionality with a system which claims to give more accurate totals on car rental charges before bookings are confirmed.

Approximate Total tots up “virtually all” applicable charges such as taxes, surcharges, mandatory fees and drop off charges, according to Galileo.

This will allow agents to better clarify to customers the total price to be paid.

“Over the years additional charges on car rental agreements have meant that increasingly there is a difference in the rental quote at the time of reservation and the actual price paid by the customer,” Galileo said.

UK country manager Jason Clarke said the new functionality “greatly enhances and simplifies the process of car bookings within the GDS, providing total costs at the point of enquiry” allowing  agents to make additional sales “in this important and sometimes ignored opportunity”.
