Allegiant Air building Florida resort
Allegiant Air has unveiled plans for a large waterfront resort close to its Florida air hub in Punta Gorda.
In fact it will be ‘the largest waterfront resort of its kind in the state of Florida,’ said Allegiant president John Redmond.
It will take the Sunseeker brand name and feature an initial 75-room hotel, up to nine condominium towers, restaurants, retail units and a marina.
Allegiant claims it will drive an extra 300,000 visitors to the area annually.
"This project builds on Allegiant’s profile as a leader and innovator in leisure travel," Redmond added.
"Our growth and success with air service in Punta Gora and this unique, waterfront property all point to an exceptional opportunity for a resort that vacation home owners and hotel visitors will love."
It is scheduled to open by 2020.
