Amadeus updates Vista
Amadeus has updated its front office reservations tool to give agents the option of making bookings in cryptic format.
The new version, Vista 2.0, incorporates the “speed mode” of Amadeus’ existing program, ProTempo. It potentially speeds up the booking process for experienced agents, who are able to use the GDS in cryptic mode instead of making bookings through the slower graphical pages.
If an agent is unfamiliar with an entry, they right-click on the airline or destination code to be given a definition of the product. Agents can switch to the graphical pages and make a booking through a combination of the two modes.
Vista 2.0 has been used in a pilot programme for the past few months by ABC Executive Travel. Amadeus claims the agent’s experienced staff members would be able to speed up bookings by as much as 30 percent by using the cryptic mode.
Vista 2.0 contains the smart keys from the previous version, but instead of being limited to 33 keys, agents can develop infinite keys for individual or agency-wide use. Smart keys can also be developed by Amadeus.
Further advancements include a reduction in the number of screens agents need to go through. Amadeus head of marketing and communications, Rob Golledge told TravelMole: “In Vista 2.0 the graphical response page is easy to understand, and all the manual inputs are on one screen, so you don’t need to go to seperate areas”.
Amadeus Vista is downloadable, so no CD-ROM or technical visit is required. It comes as part of Amadeus AgentNet, which costs £20 pcm per user to licence. It is available in France, Spain, Germany, Italy, USA, Australia and Japan.
