American Airlines adds third Miami daily flight to St. Thomas
American Airlines is adding a third daily flight to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands from its Miami hub.
It begins December 18, 2019 with a morning departure from MIA, and returning in the afternoon.
U.S. Virgin Islands commissioner of tourism Joseph Boschulte hailed the additional airlift.
"The addition of this flight signals another step forward for our administration as we strive to restore air service to the Territory," said Boschulte.
Boschulte also revealed that American is upgrading its Charlotte-St. Croix flights from the current Saturday-only service to daily frequencies during the peak Christmas period from December 18, 2019 to January 4, 2020.
Boschulte said increasing travel options to and from St. Croix from more US destinations is a key focus for the department of tourism.
"We also look forward to working with our partners to roll out effective tactics to market our destination before, during and beyond the upcoming peak winter season."
American recently announced Saturday services to St. Thomas from Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago which kick off in December 2019.
United Airlines is also launching Chicago-St.Thomas flights in November.
