At least four people have died including an American after a tourist boat sank off the Galapagos Islands.
At least two more passengers are still listed as missing.
Ecuador authorities are investigating the sinking of the Angy, which according to local news Island media run out of fuel while experienced mechanical problems.
As well as the American passenger, a Colombian national and two Ecuadorians died.
There were 37 people aboard at the time including several Europeans.
Navy spokesperson Pablo Caicedo said the captain and the assistant skipper were rescued but went into hiding after reaching land.
The navy said the captain and crew were at fault for waiting too long to issue a mayday call.
The port captain’s office said most aboard the boat were not wearing lifejackets.
