American drops Glasgow
American Airlines is dropping a summer-only service between Glasgow and Chicago.
The carrier is withdrawing from the route after 16 years on September 30.
The airline reportedly said the route had become increasingly unprofitable as passenger numbers from the Scottish city have fallen steadily in recent years.
Glasgow Airport officials are in discussion with other airlines about running transatlanic flights, the city’s Herald newspaper reported.
