American star operates newest fleet in the world
The American Star this fall starts continues its’ cruising along the autumn colored palisades of the Hudson River.
After spending the summer months in Maine. the American Star will cruise the Hudson River with visits to ports of call that include West Point, Catskill, Tarrytown, Albany and New York City.
One ship will depart from Providence.
The American Star’s two additional Hudson River cruises will be roundtrip cruises departing from New York City.
The ship line says its unique itinerary “lets passengers see, up close, a shoreline that has remained virtually unchanged since the seventeenth century….where passengers can visit some of the most historic and palatial estates in the country, with the splendid fall colors as a backdrop.”
Passengers can walk the grounds of Military Academy at West Point and tour its museum. The American Star continues it cruise up the river to Albany where passengers can tour that historic city, including the New York State Capitol and LaFayette Parks.
Another stop at Tarrytown offers passengers the chance to experience the world of Sleepy Hollow, Rip Van Winkle, Revolutionary War heroes, grand homes perched on towering cliffs, Gothic castles, and scenic landscapes.
The 100-passenger American Star is 215 feet long. The new ships have oversized staterooms with private verandahs and large picture windows. Each room is also fitted with flat-screen TVs and DVD players.
There’s also a spacious observation deck.
American Cruise Lines operates what it terms the newest fleet in the world.
