Amex creates online community
In a nod towards the increasing importance of brand presence within social networking, American Express has launched its own online travel community for card members.
Amex’s MembersKnow forum will allow users to share travel tips and make recommendations to other members. Amex has discovered that its card members are 90% more likely to travel frequently and abroad than those who are not.
Users will also be able to pass comment and correspond with editors at Travel + Leisure magazine which is owned by American Express Publishing. Editors will initiate online conversations with users on hot travel topics and also dole out expert advice.
Members can also see the most popular places where other members stay and eat around the globe.
Amex director of content and community development Pepper Roukas said: “American Express designed Members Know to serve as a meaningful forum for Card members to connect, share travel knowledge and expertise, and have dialogue with Travel + Leisure editors who are part of the American Express family.
“If you’re venturing off to a new travel destination, you know the best advice comes from avid travellers with discerning tastes which is what makes a community of Cardmembers so unique.â€
