ANA Holdings to cut 3,500 jobs
ANA Holdings is set to cut about 3,500 jobs over the next three years as the airline expects to report its largest-ever annual loss.
The Yomiuri news outlet says more details of the downsizing will be reported this week as part of a broader business restructuring.
The jobs will likely go via a vacancy freeze, early retirement and a job outplacement scheme.
It is considering sending some workers on long term placements to other firms such as Toyota Motor Corp.
ANA Holdings had a total workforce of more than 43,000 prior to the pandemic.
The airline is also looking to reduce its fleet size and will sell about 30 of its wide body aircraft.
ANA is expected to post a net loss of about 500 billion yen ($4.8 billion) for the fiscal year.
