Another French transport strike planned
British Airways ready to cancel 90 flights in face of industrial action
Travellers heading for France tomorrow face difficulties as yet more industrial action is planned to hit the country. Air Traffic controllers are planning a strike from 5am to 10pm tomorrow, and many airlines are expecting their services to be seriously affected.
British Airways has cancelled many flights and yesterday issued the following statement: “It is expected that at least 90 individual British Airways flights out of a normal Tuesday schedule between the UK and France of 120 individual flights will be cancelled. British Airways flights to and from France will be affected at Heathrow, Gatwick, London City, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Edinburgh.”
Passengers are being told to contact the airline for information. The French National Tourist Office confirmed that other unions could also join the industrial action; one of them is responsible for Paris’ bus, train and network so travel in and around the capital could be seriously disrupted as well.
