APA Qantas takeover faces another big hurdle.
The Australian Services Union (ASU) has presented another big hurdle to the APA takeover of Qantas union by revealing that they are demanding a 6% pay rise for Qantas staff under a new enterprise bargaining agreement.
With Qantas management seeking increase productivity from its 37,000-strong workforce in return for pay rises of about 3%, the ASU has responded that it wants 6%, with the ASU members including administrative, check-in, call-centre and information technology staff.
ASU Assistant National Secretary Linda White told the AFR that recent Qantas executive pay rises and multi-million dollar bonuses that are offered to senior executives under the APA bid has dwarfed pay rises being sought by other staff.
