Asia continues to rank as Brit’s top value for money destination

Asia Pacific remains the top region for best value holidays for UK travellers, according to the latest Holiday Money Report from Post Office Travel Money.

The Far East in particular continues to offer the best value with six of the top 15 destinations located in the Pacific Asia region.

These include Vietnam (1), Japan (4), Bali (8), Malaysia (11), Thailand (12) and India (13).

Cost of living is still a concern for many consumers.

Helen Wheat, PATA’s tour operator spokesperson said: “This year saw the region kick off on a positive note with attractive prices helping to boost sales. All indicators point to travel being a top priority this year.”

The report indicates that prices have decreased in most Asia destinations due to a stronger pound.

For the first year running, Hoi An in Vietnam offers the best value, with prices down 14.4% in 2023.

Japan is another Asia destination to benefit from a significant rise in sterling’s value.

“In today’s current economic climate, customers are definitely focusing more on value for money and making every penny stretch as far as possible,” Wheat said.

“With the cost increase of international flights, passengers are choosing to stay in destination for longer and make the most of their time.”

Agents selling Asia in particular should leverage tactical offers and increased opportunity to upsell, PATA says.
