ASTA offers board seat for consortium member
The American Society of Travel Agents’ Board of Directors have agreed to appoint a consortium member to a board seat.
The ASTA board sanctioned the move at its recent meeting at the ASTA Destination Expo in Marrakech, Morocco and to qualify, consortia must mandate membership or fully subsidize ASTA membership for its members.
“Our consortia members have really stepped up their commitment by either mandating or subsidizing membership in ASTA for their own members,” said ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby.
“They realize that a stronger national trade association representing travel agents benefits the entire community of agents and we are grateful for their continued support.”
The consortium member position will be for a term of two years and rotated based on the order in which the consortium members qualified for membership, ASTA said.
ASTA said Signature Travel Network is the only consortium that currently qualifies under the rules while Travel Leaders has announced mandated membership over the next two years.
