ATE 2006 Gala Dinner a huge success

Saturday, 20 Jun, 2006 0

ATE 2006’s farewell to Eastern buyers and welcome to Western Buyers, while a huge success with stunning performances by Christine Anu and Human Nature, was sadly marred by noise throughout the performances and speeches by host Governments and organisations.

SA Premier Mike Rann and 23yr ATE sponsor Qantas’ Rob Gurney were all but drowned out by the continuous noise of talking and celebrating by some of the 3,000 strong audience at the event held in the largest marquee in Australia, purpose built for the event.

Congratulations to Tourism Australia and their partners and contractors for organising such a marvellous event, with superb food, a massive challenge for such large number, but excellently executed.

Unfortunately, most of the noise seemed to emanate from the tables occupied by Australian Sellers and many overseas media and buyers being less than impressed by the apparent lack of courtesy being show to the performers and speakers.

Nevertheless it was a great night!
