Aussies all safe in Antrarctica
The ten Australians who were evacuated from the stricken MS Explorer in the Antarctic are now having homeward arrangements made for them by GAP Adventures’ representatives and an Australian consular staffer in Punta Arenas.
Speaking for the operator, G.P Adventures, marketing manager at Adventure World Emi Weir said that all 154 crew and passengers were taken from the ship without incident or injury and transferred to a local hotel.
Passengers wishing to do so are expected to begin the journey home today.
Ms Weir added, “For clients travelling after January 4 we would ask them to await further news from GAP, which should be forthcoming during the week.
“Clients booked on sailings up to and including January 4 are of course entitled to a full refund. As is standard practise this will made available via the agent, not directly to the client, and we hope to advise on refunds in the coming days.”
