Austin Is Swinging!
Visitors to Texas Hill Country, 30 miles west of Austin, are in for a real eco-adventure from 8 March 2008 when tree canopy tours start. The tours offer a wild ride as visitors fly through the canopy of old growth cypress trees, some up to 100 feet tall and have the opportunity to overnight in a tree house.
Attached to steel ziplines, visitors glide on a series of cables that extend from one tree to another and from tree to ground that allows individuals to slide down using technical trolleys. Guides will escort individuals, groups or families for adventure with an adrenaline rush and to learn about the local ecology from a bird’s eye view.
Guests can zip into overnight accommodation at the Lofthaven, a tree house with a queen-size bed and an air mattress available for a family of four. It costs $300 for the night and tea, coffee, water and a toaster oven are provided. Guests are advised to eat a late lunch and bring snacks.
Austin is a swinging city and the state capital of Texas. Known as the “Live Music Capital of the World†you can have a great time in the city and then head out into the Hill Country to enjoy the caverns, hiking and biking in the countryside, tour the wine trail or stay on a ranch.
