Australia mandates Covid tests for travellers from China
Australia is the next country to mandate Covid tests for travellers from China.
China announced it will drop quarantine and reopen borders in early January.
Australian Health Minister Mark Butler said take Covid tests are needed within 48 hours of travel.
Butler cited a ‘lack of comprehensive information’ about Covid cases in China.
“The decision was made out of an abundance of caution,” Butler said.
Mandatory testing applies to inbound flights from Hong Kong and Macau.
The US, India, Italy, Japan and Taiwan imposed restrictions for arrivals from China.
