Aviation all the way for new cargo manager
Emirates Airline has appointed Greg Johnson as the new Cargo Manager – Australia.
Having joined the Emirates SkyCargo team as NSW Cargo Manager when Emirates launched services to Sydney eight years ago, Mr Johnson was responsible for establishing the cargo arm of the business in Australia ’s busiest air freight airport.
Emirates SkyCargo in Australia has developed substantially under Mr Johnson’s leadership with Emirates currently the third ranked airline in terms of total cargo tonnage uplifted from Australia.
Mr Johnson said, “ Australia , by virtue of history and geography, is a competitive trading nation. My role at Emirates SkyCargo is to offer logistical solutions across a whole gamut of industries, from perishable commodities to raw materials to manufactured products. I look forward to facilitating growth in Australian exports and imports through Emirates SkyCargo.â€
Mr Johnson, who has a degree in aviation studies, says he is proud to work for one of the fastest expanding and prestigious global air cargo brands. His challenge will be to ensure the service and product live up to the changing logistics environment, and to uphold Emirates’ strong reputation in one of its key markets.
Stephen Pearse, Emirates’ Vice President Australia, said, “Emirates SkyCargo has been the recipient of a multitude of Best Air Cargo Carrier awards over the years and, under Greg’s management, we are certain to achieve many future successes.â€
Emirates, which currently operates 49 flights to Australia a week, has announced plans to increase services to 70 a week by the end of the 2009 fiscal year.
Emirates fleet consists entirely of widebodied aircraft.
