Avis to go live on all GDSs
Avis Europe is launching new functionality improvements to drive up reservations through the Global Distribution Systems.
Avis says that the new ‘Complete Access Plus’ service going live during May for Amadeus will complete the process for the four main GDSs, including Galileo, Sabre and Worldspan, and will position Avis as the first global car rental supplier to be seamless on all four GDSs. The product will enable the travel agent to have direct access to Avis’ booking system and the latest pricing and information.
By the end of May travel agents will be able to get an on-screen total price for the booking including any extras such as insurances and taxes, rather than a base rate for the rental plus a daily rate for each of the extras. Amadeus and Sabre will be able to display this immediately, with Worldspan and Galileo following within a few months.
Catherine Rawson, director of e-commerce at Avis Europe said: “We have a major commitment to making reservations much simpler for our customers including the travel agents. Direct access to the latest prices and availability will give travel agents the confidence that the information is correct, while providing the total package price on screen provides clarity, while avoiding the use of a calculator or a pen and paper.”
