BA pulls out of Sri Lanka market
British Airways says it will end flights to Sri Lanka in spring next year due to falling demand.
The airline will continue flying to the Sri Lankan capital Colombo and Male until March 28, 2015.
The seasonal services to Male in the Maldives will then restart again for winter 2015.
"The decision to suspend flights between Colombo and London has been a difficult one to make, but the Colombo route is not making a profitable contribution to our business and we are unable to sustain it," said Christopher Fordyce, regional commercial manager, British Airways, South Asia.
"British Airways will continue flying between London Gatwick and Male, however, the service will be operational only during the winter schedule to cater to the high leisure travel demand," Fordyce added.
BA has been trying to boost sales in the region and until the end of this month is offering 50% off on select outbound flights from India.
