Tuesday, 16 Jun, 2004 0

Many travel and tourism shares edged upwards yesterday as London’s equity markets made small gains.

The FTSE 100 index added 25.4 points to close at 4458, while the FTSE 250 gained just 1.4 points to end the day at 6101.

British Airways managed to add 7.25p to close at 258.75p; The Times says analysts attribute the rise to a rights issue at Lufthansa creating more confidence in the airline industry; the newspaper states that BA was the third-best performer on the FTSE 100 yesterday.
