BA ups fuel surcharge for bigger spenders
British Airways has responded to the current fuel crisis by hiking its fuel surcharge for premium passengers.
This is the first time the carrier has charged one class higher than another for the surcharge but says it is “appropriate†as business and first class passengers have more space and luggage allowance.
First class, Club World and World Traveller Plus passengers will now pay up to £24 more per flight than economy travellers.
Cuurently a nine hour plus flight would see economy class passengers paying a £109 fuel charge on their fare. World Traveller Plus passengers will now pay £121 while Club World and First Class will have to shell out £133.
This is the third surcharge boost this year.
