BA, Virgin drop masks for US flights
After a federal judge nixed the US mask mandate for flights, UK transatlantic carriers quickly responded by easing rules.
Passengers on British Airways and Virgin Atlantic US-bound flights no longer have to don a mask.
Both airlines updated their policies.
Masks are optional unless a specific destination requires them to be worn.
“We encourage everyone to be respectful of fellow passengers’ mask preferences, and across our network, we continue to adhere to all regulatory requirements,” Virgin Atlantic said.
“Face masks will be a personal choice for our customers.”
Other European airlines including Air France and Lufthansa will continue imposing mask requirements on all routes, to comply with regulations in their respective countries.
