Bahamas promotes tropical weddings to US market
The number of weddings hosted in the Bahamas surged to over 100,000 last year and a new initiative aimed at the US market hopes to attract many more.
Speaking at a media event in New York attended by many prominent travel journalists, Minister of Tourism Obie Wilchcombe announced the Caribbean nation’s latest campaign called ’16 Weddings, 16 Islands, One Priceless Day.’
The campaign will feature prominent billboard advertising in Times Square and social media marketing on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
Minister Wilchcombe also announced a new wedding trip planning tool on the dedicated website www.bahamas16islandsweddings.com and a competition to win an all-expenses paid wedding package.
"This promotion is so important as over the next few months as people register and they will tell us why they want to come to The Bahamas, and they will get to see all the places."
"Over the past 10 years, more than a million people came to the Bahamas to attend a wedding," "said minister Wilchcombe.
The Tourism Ministry has partnered with a number of major hospitality brands for this campaign including Hilton Hotels and Sandals.
