Barrhead Travel announces further expansion
Barrhead Travel plans to invest more than £300,000 expanding across Scotland and the North of England.
Chairman Bill Munro said the firm’s expansion strategy had been accelerated by the ‘remarkable deals’ being offered by high street landlords.
The agency group says it is looking for a further 10,000 sq. ft. of high street retail space, with new branches expected to open in Glasgow, Dumfries, Greenock, Dumbarton, Carlisle and Inverness within the next 12 months.
Bill Munro said: "In addition to our extensive new luxury and business travel office in Glasgow city centre – which will be our second in the city alongside our Oswald St superstore – we’re planning new high street branches in Dumfries, Greenock, Dumbarton, Carlisle and Inverness."
He said Barrhead Travel was in a position to offer employment to workers looking for a new challenge following the nationwide closures announced by Thomas Cook.
Barrhead Travel, founded in Glasgow by Bill Munro in 1975, is now Scotland’s largest independent travel group and employs 700 staff across 45 locations.
