Barrhead Travel reports strong Easter bookings
Barrhead Travel has reported that spring holidays, especially travel during Easter break, were in high demand with passenger numbers up by over 20% for the Easter weekend compared with last year.
Barrhead says last-minute holidays have been consistently strong over the last few months but noticeably increased in volume for Easter holidays.
Demand for the last weeks of the winter season were still selling well with around 10% of new bookings made during the past week for April departures.
Booking patterns indicate families have been taking advantage of the earlier Easter and booking longer durations.
All-inclusive beach breaks and cruise bookings, including sailings from Southampton and Miami, are among the most popular holidays.
The Brilliant Travel division, which includes Managed Service Travel Partners and homeworkers, has reported similar trends with last-minute bookings performing well amongst members.
It is accounting for 20% of March bookings.
Top Easter destinations for their members’ clients include Tenerife and Lanzarote with long haul locations such as Dubai and Barbados making the top five.
Jacqueline Dobson, President of Barrhead Travel, said: “There’s been a clear shift in the last few years when it comes to spring getaways.”
“It’s evolved into a key date in the annual holiday calendar.”
